Recently in the world of computer Viruses is this nasty, devastating bug, Cryptolocker. What the virus does is Encrypt your computer and files and demand you pay an actual Ransom via BitCoin (digital currency) to get your computer and files back. If you don’t after a few days Everything, pictures, music, text and word files gets Deleted. This has been a surprisingly malicious virus but its possible to help prevent it by using the simple technique of the Principle of Least Privilege.
That simply means making sure that when you are using your computer, change your User account to a Limited user account. Doing this prevents parts for the virus from taking hold. This is also a great way to prevent other attacks and it is GREAT in a business environment to prevent employees from installing bad software or opening files that they shouldn’t have access to.
